In the serene landscapes of Northern Ontario, the seeds of Pauline Henson's artistic journey were sown. Even though born in
S. Ontario, Canada, Pauline's formative years unfolded amidst the sprawling vistas of the Algoma region. It was on her family's farm, enveloped by the tranquility of nature, that Pauline first discovered her profound love for painting.
At the tender age of sixteen, a seemingly ordinary encounter with some found paints and brushes became the catalyst for Pauline's artistic awakening. Having always harboured a passion for drawing, Pauline made the transformative decision to teach herself how to paint. Initially drawn to the richness of oil paints, she transitioned over the years to the versatility of acrylics,
which she now deeply prefers. Later in life, she honed her skills further through online classes at Acrylic University, guided by the insights of Jed Dorsey.
Pauline's educational pursuits initially followed a different path. She obtained two ARCT piano degrees from the Royal Conservatory of Music in Toronto before embarking on a three decade career teaching piano. Later, she became a Registered Massage Therapist, specializing in treating musicians' injuries. Now retired, Pauline has rekindled her deep-seated passion for
painting and dedicates her days to artistic exploration and growth. Though self-taught, Pauline's technique and creative process have been shaped by the teachings of notable artists like Jed Dorsey, Dianna Shyne, and Canadian artist Brian Buckrell.
Occasionally she dabbles with the abstract of what acrylic fluid paints can create.
This past June, Pauline achieved a significant milestone when she showcased her work as a guest artist at the Barrie Art Gallery. Throughout the year, she participates in the gallery's People's Choice Award where her artworks have received five awards this year.
Looking ahead, she aspires to continue evolving as an artist, with ambitions of contributing meaningfully to the societal tapestry through her art. Her journey stands as a testament to the transformative power of following one's passion, regardless of where life initially leads.
